Iridology is the study of the iris (the colored part of the eye). This method is a technical means which allows a particular approach of a patient’s state of health. The eye reflects the body’s physical state, each organ is represented in it. Thanks to this information we are able to make a more precise diagnosis.

The idea that the eye reflects the body is not new, and over the centuries many scientists and physicians have taken a close interest in the observation of the iris. “As the eyes are, so is the body”, said Hypocrate, the Greek physician (-460 – 356 BC), thereby making a correlation between the eyes and the organic functions.

The first use of the word „eye diagnosis,“ loosely translated as iridology began with Ignaz von Peczely, a 19th-century Hungarian physician. The most common story is that he got the idea for this diagnostic tool after seeing similar spots in the eyes of a man he was treating for a broken leg and the eyes of an owl whose leg was broken many years before. After becoming a physician, he studied iridology, and came to the conclusion that the iris reflects changes in the tissues of the corresponding body organs.
In the 30’s, Gaston Verdier created the “French School of Iridology”, and in 1956, the “Society of Iridology”. Iridology became better known in the United States in the 1950s, when Bernard Jensen, an American chiropractor, began giving classes on his own method.

Thus in the course of time, a topography or chart was established on the very concrete basis of the correspondence between organs.
Applied iridology, also called “iridoscopy”, is a diagnostic tool and not a therapy. In addition to evaluating a person’s state of health, a detailed iris analys – direct or photo enlargement – will reveal individual predispositions to certain diseases, which could be associated with the genetic material ou with environmental or emotional factors.
This faculty to find out organic weaknesses before the first evidence of the illness particularly distinguishes iridology from other diagnostic methods.
However, iridology is not considered as a science in the real sense of the word, and it should not replace clinical examinations but be considered as complementary to clinical examinations like a blood test or a radiography.

Iridology examination :

When viewed under a microscope, the iris looks like a watch with its twelve sections.
It is assumed that each organ is represented in the iris, like a projection area for the whole body. The iridology examination allows the examination of the eye’s grid or stroma, of the pigmentations and their variations, of the modifications of the eye’s grid, colors or patches and other signs like blanks, striations, circles which, depending on where they are situated in the topography, means we can speak about organs weaknesses, inherited predispositions or/and hereditary constitution.

The locating of the organic weaknesses allows the therapist to act at the earliest satge by proposing a therapy adapted to the patient’s state of health and to prevent worse diseases.

Based on the philosophy that “prevention is better than cure”, this irodology examination established the setting of the patient’s state of health. In combination with other clinical findings and with our bioresance test, we can help you to take better care of your health.
